This policy explains how Gegamo Team handles information in Margin, a notes and todo app for Android.

What Margin stores

Margin stores notes, todos, projects, labels, timestamps, and settings on your device. These local features work without an account. Exported backup files are created only when you choose to export them.

If you enable cloud backup by signing in with Google, Margin sends your notes, todos, projects, and related identifiers to the Margin service hosted on Vercel and Neon Postgres. This lets you restore your data across devices.

Account information

Google sign-in is provided by Clerk. Margin receives and uses your Clerk user identifier and available display name to authenticate requests, associate your cloud data with your account, and show your signed-in state. Margin does not receive your Google password.

Sharing notes

Sharing is optional and user-initiated. When you enable it, Margin publishes the selected note as a read-only page accessible to anyone with its link. Your account identity and other notes are not included. You can revoke a link from the app, and deleting your account removes your owned shared links.

AI and voice features

AI features are optional. When you use them, the selected note text or instruction is sent to the provider configured in the app, such as NVIDIA NIM, Groq, OpenRouter, or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint. You are responsible for reviewing the privacy terms of a custom endpoint before sending content to it.

Voice transcription is optional and requires microphone permission at the moment you start recording. The temporary recording is sent to the configured transcription provider, currently Groq Whisper, to produce text and is deleted by the app after processing or failure. Margin does not record from the microphone in the background.

Optional web search sends your search query to Tavily or DuckDuckGo and displays returned results. Search providers may process requests under their own privacy policies.

Security and retention

Margin uses HTTPS for its service requests. Account credentials and AI keys are stored on the device using Android encrypted preferences where supported. Android system backup is disabled for Margin. Temporary recordings and caches are deleted when their operation finishes or fails.

Margin retains cloud data while your account remains active. Service providers may retain data according to their own terms and configurations. Operational logs may be retained for security, reliability, and abuse prevention for as long as reasonably necessary.

Your choices and deletion

You can use Margin locally without creating an account, pause cloud backup, revoke shared links, export your data, or sign out. Sign-out stops cloud access but does not automatically erase local notes.

If you have an account, use Delete account to request deletion without the app, or use Delete account in Margin Settings. A confirmed in-app deletion removes Margin cloud records, shared links, the Clerk account, local notes, local history, saved AI keys, and cached account state. Deletion requests are processed without unnecessary delay. Data retained for security or legal reasons, if any, is limited and covered by applicable obligations.

Children

Margin is a general productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
